Railway Bogie Coil Spring : These are the most common type of Springs used in Railway Bogies. They are made of coiled steel wire and provide good shock absorption and load distribution.

Railway Bogie Leaf Spring : These are made of layers of flat, flexible steel plates bolted together. They are traditionally used in older railway vehicles and offer a combination of flexibility and strength.

Railway Bogie Spring manufacturing process :

The manufacturing process of Railway Bogie Springs, including Coil Spring and Leaf Spring, involves several stages to ensure they meet the stringent requirements for strength, durability, and reliability. Below is an overview of the manufacturing process for each type of Spring :

Railway Coil Spring : These are made by heating steel rods to high temperatures and then coiling them around a mandrel. After forming they undergo quenching and tempering to achieve the desired hardness and flexibility. The Springs are then shot-peened to improve fatigue strength and coated for corrosion resistance.

Railway Leaf Spring : These are produced by cutting steel into required lengths, then heating and shaping them into the desired arc. The leaves are assembled, clamped together and subjected to heat treatment for strength. Finally they are painted or coated for protection against rust and wear.
